How to Plan a Birthday Dinner With a Private Chef
By Chef Ricky · 2026-10-31
1. Pick the date and guest count
Your guest count sets the style. 2 to 9 guests suits a Small Gathering, 8 or more opens up plated Fine Dining, and 20 or more is ideal for a Family-Style Buffet. Book a few weeks ahead, especially on weekends.
2. Tell me about the guest of honour
What do they love? A favourite dish, a cuisine from a trip, a dessert they always order. I cook Jamaican, Italian, French, Japanese, Thai and Southern soul food, and I can mix them.
If kids are coming, tell me. I adjust menus for younger and pickier eaters all the time.
3. Add wine and finishing touches
I spent two years at a Yorkville wine bar, so I can suggest a wine for each course. Just tick the wine pairing option on the quote form.
